A weekend in Washington DC wouldn’t be complete without a brunch outing to perhaps the city’s best French restaurant, Le Diplomate.
When I went to visit Sven in Washington DC, this is the place he decided to take me for our special brunch last week. My god, was it something worth writing about. We decided to pick a few things (sweet and savory) to share. T hink DUCK SARLADAISES – duck confit, egg sunny side up, roasted potatoes / FRENCH TOAST – rose-strawberries, Chantilly cream, lime – is your mouth watering yet? The interior was also beautifully done and oh-so-French-feeling. We were seated in the pretty atrium which was decorated with plants and a colorful mix of tile. So, if you’re ever in DC, don’t skip this place. It was honestly the best French toast I’ve had (update to follow once Sven takes me to France 😛 )
After brunching the morning away, we took a trip to the DC Zoo. The best thing about DC (besides brunch at Le Diplomate) is that all of the exhibitions are free to the public. Museums, parks, monuments, zoos, etc. – all free to enter. We like walking around seeing all the cute animals. I was most excited to see the red panda, but sadly they were having an afternoon nap when we stopped by. To be totally honest, zoos make me a little sad because I’m not sure if all the animals are happy to be there. But I’m still grateful that we could see some of those cute creatures (and also the not-so-cute ones too, like snakes).
On Friday morning, I’m flying back to DC to visit Sven again. We have a long holiday together finally and we plan to see some art museums!
