Just a few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of spending a morning with Fredericia at their stunning light-filled showroom in central Copenhagen. During my visit, I got to discover the latest news — some of these designs are classics from years past which Fredericia has brought back to market, while others are entirely new designs that are destined to become icons.
Regardless of the era of origination, I’m always taken by the quality and elegance of each Fredericia product I encounter — pieces which remind us of Denmark’s rich design history while still maintaining an edge of modernity that makes the collection as a whole unmistakably ‘now’. One of my favorite pieces amongst the latest releases is the JG Folding Stool. Another reintroduction by Jørgen Gammelgaard that I was excited to see is the JG Table series. Available in both round and square formats which share the same airy steel base structure, these tables are yet another beautiful example of leveraging simplicity for versatility and timelessness. New material options have also been added to a few of Fredericia’s long-time icons such as Børge Mogensen’s Spanish Chair which is now available in beautiful solid walnut. And material options in Mogensen’s other well-known classic, the J39 Chair, have also been expanded to now include a raw paper cord from sedge grass which offers an even more natural aesthetic that will patina over time.
In the images below, I’ve captured a few of my favorite moments spotted around Fredericia’s dreamy showroom. There’s so much attention to detail and craftmanship to be appreciated in each piece — aspects which bond the brand’s entire collection, be it a contemporary design or mid-century classic.
