Based out of Denmark, Massimo Copenhagen is dedicated to creating luxurious rugs from long-lasting materials. Each of their rugs are handwoven by skilled artisans with decades of experience using consciously sourced natural fibers that will patina gracefully over the years.
I’m always amazed by the impact a rug can have on an interior. It’s the element that grounds the setting and brings warmth and definition to a space. But finding the perfect rug comes with much to consider. Beyond aesthetics, it’s important to invest in a rug that will wear well for many years and can take regular traffic and use. Massimo understands this importance of quality, creating each of their rugs with exquisite attention to detail and craft while using materials which are certified for their sustainability.
After searching for the perfect rug for our living room, I recently decided on Massimo’s beautiful Earth Naturals rug in Ivory which is made from 100% undyed New Zealand wool. While the rug itself is absolutely stunning, I’ve been completely blown away by the quality of both the craftsmanship and material. Unlike most wool rugs which release countless fibers, our Massimo rug has hardly shed at all, giving me a tremendous amount of confidence that it will last us for decades to come.
Of course, Massimo’s Scandinavian heritage can be seen throughout all the timeless designs in their collection. They offer a wide assortment of colors and patterns, most of which are elegantly understated and made to complement a long-term mentality when it comes to aesthetics and interior style… the type of rug you keep for years and years.

Tips for Choosing a Rug
When it comes to finding a rug for your home, it can be tricky to make a final selection especially if you’re shopping online. Before making any hasty decisions, I always recommend ordering a few samples so that you can get a feeling for how the color and texture will harmonize with your interior. You can always create your own material mood-board by arranging the rug samples with other textile remnants and paint swatches you might have at home to get an idea for the overall look.
Feel free to get creative here when sourcing elements to represent a certain material you might be working with in the space (I snagged a little wooden dish to stand in for my walnut sideboard for example). It doesn’t need to be perfect, but it’s important to make sure the colors in your material mood-board reflect the overall aesthetics of the room you’re shopping for. I also like to consider the furniture and colors in other rooms of the home, just in case I decide to move the rug to a different room in the future.
Another thing that’s worth considering is how the color of the rug will change throughout the day in different lighting. Leave your samples out for a few days, testing them in different corners of the room as the light shifts. When choosing our rug, I was torn between the Earth Naturals in beautiful Ivory and the Earth Bamboo in warm Desert Sand. In the end, I opted for the Ivory because I felt as though it was a better compliment and contrast to the tone of our hardwood flooring which already has a lot of warm undertones especially in bright daylight.
You can order samples for all of Massimo’s rugs directly from their website. Best of all, Massimo will subtract the cost of the samples from your order later on when you purchase a rug in full-size.
