KUUNO ~ Luggage Designed For Hassle-Free Travel

    June 5, 2020
Kuuno Carry-On Suitcase, Designer Luggage, Minimalist Travel Aesthetic, Neutral Style

Now that the world seems to be slowly opening up again for travel, I’m looking forward to taking this carry-on from KUUNO on an adventure with me the next chance I get!

Not only is it beautifully designed, it’s also been thoughtfully engineered to make travel a bit more hassle-free. The detail that makes this particular carry-on so unique is it’s zipper-free closure. Instead of a typical zipper, KUUNO suitcases use a well-integrated aluminum frame which makes for quick and easy opening, while adding strength to the polycarbonate shell. Two combination-latches keep the trolley securely closed, but are easy to unlock and pop open for quick access.

The 360° wheels roll like butter and make it a dream to maneuver, and the suitcase also comes with a laundry bag and airport security approved bag for liquids. KUUNO also makes packing cubes which fit perfectly into the Kaarlo Carry-On. Since I’ve not been travelling much this year, I’ve been using these packing cubes in my drawers to store my bulky sweaters during the summer months. Sven and I don’t have any big travel plans just yet, but I’m for sure looking forward to packing up this suitcase when the time finally comes!

    Dreamy Linen Bedding by Bedfolk

    May 28, 2020
Bedfolk Linen Bedding | Neutral Aesthetic, White Interior, Calming Eco-Style, Dreamy Bed, Luxury Bedroom, Natural Home - RG Daily

There’s nothing quite like falling into your bed at the end of the day, or waking up in the morning in the coziest of linen clouds.

Sleeping on linen is a bit different than sleeping on typical cotton bedding. It has a slight texture that’s really comforting on the skin, and it’s perfect for the warmer months because of its heat regulating abilities. I also love the relaxed look of linen, and how its beautiful texture brings an extra level of naturalness to the bed. Recently, I updated our bedding to this incredibly soft and dreamy linen set by Bedfolk and I’m absolutely in love with the way our bed looks and feels.

Bedfolk’s approach is really simple and easy to appreciate. They focus on making long-lasting textiles that are utterly timeless, and ethically made from natural fibers. The brand’s founders, Nick and Jo, created Bedfolk because they felt there was a gap in the market. They wanted to simplify the process of shopping for quality bedding, while making it easier and more affordable to create that luxurious hotel feeling at home. Right now, Bedfolk offers four varieties of bedding, with linen being the latest addition to their collection. All of their textiles come in a few subtle colors, and are produced in Europe by expert weavers without the use of harmful chemicals and synthetics. They also offer free shipping and returns, and all of their bedding comes with a 60 day trial.

Diptyque ~ An Olfactory Journey To Paris

    May 22, 2020
Diptyque Paris Perfume ~ Parfum Beauty Fragrance, French Aesthetic, Product Photography, Light Shadows, Shadow Play, Minimalist Style, Fashion - RG Daily Blog

I’ve always loved the way fragrance has the magical ability to carry us places. It pulls at the memories intertwined with our senses, reminding us of a special day, person, feeling, or city. Diptyque’s newest perfume, Eau Capitale, does just that — it’s a vibrant, unique, and romantic bouquet that instantly brings you to a city unlike any other, Pairs.

Eau Capitale holds a particularly special place in the fragrant universe of Diptyque. It’s their first fragrance that pays tribute to Diptyque’s own city, as well as the first chypre in their collection. Like Paris on a summer day, the rich smell of roses mingles with the fresh and fruity scent of bergamot, and is warmed by patchouli and pink peppercorns. It’s a full aroma that, like the City of Lights, leaves a lasting impression. One of the things I love most about Diptyque is their passion for story telling, not only through fragrance, but also through the individualized India ink illustrations on each label. Designed by ornamentalist, Pierre Marie, Eau Capitale is detailed with a beautiful Art Nouveau iconography of Paris — a whimsical depiction where rose gardens and peacocks surround the Eiffel Tower.

In addition to fragrances for the body, Diptyque also makes a wonderful collection of scents for the home and I’ve fallen in love with quite a few of their candles. Figuier is a long-time favorite of mine and reminds me of our summer-time visits to St Rémy au Bois. And like Diptyque’s full fragrance collection, each candle is adorned with a beautiful illustration — you’ll want to keep the jar forever, and they make perfect make-up brush holders or tealight votives.

Jewelry That Tells a Story ~ Slowly Crafted by Maria Sørensen

    May 17, 2020
Handcrafted Gold Jewelry, Earrings Maria Sørensen, Danish Design | Fashion Style Timeless Aesthetic, Statement Golden Jewelry | RG Daily Blog

These beautiful golden pieces by Maria Sørensen are like little treasures to me, and I’ve fallen in love with their delicate details and the stories embedded in their forms.

Maria makes each and every one of her pieces with a sustainable approach, using recycled gold and other metals to craft each design. Her jewelry is made in her Copenhagen workshop, and is inspired and brought to life by one of her passions — be it art, history, philosophy, or poetry. Maria comes from a family with a long history of jewelry making, and created her own lable in 2015. Since then, she has been crafting unique and inspiring pieces that celebrate the rawness of the materials she works with in the most elegant way. Maria also creates one-off, bespoke pieces for customers who would like to transform their old gold into something entirely new and special, and you can explore her custom options here. In the interview below, Maria and I talk more about what inspires her work, and how she approaches the craft of jewelry making with an imaginative and intuitive direction guided by her own emotions.

An Interview with Jeweler Maria Sørensen

    Maria Sørensen – Copenhagen Denmark

Q: Maria Sørensen — a name that not only belongs to you, but also represents your brand and work. When did you first decide you would launch your own jewelry label?

“I was very young when I first started designing with my dad, and by time it became the only thing that really felt right for me. Both my grandfather, father, and my brother are goldsmiths, and my nearest family has been self-employed for generations. I have thus always felt more intimidated by the thought of not being independent. What has really caught me about this specific métier is the fact that jewelry can express so much creativity, emotions, and stories.”

Q: Growing up in a family of jewelers and witnessing your father’s craft from a young age must have felt a bit magical, and I can imagine that it kindled a curiosity for the rare and precious things in life. Thinking back, what aspects of your father’s work were the most fascinating to you?

“There are many things about my father’s work that has fascinated me throughout my life. As a child I would run over to his little workshop besides our house and I would find him on his workbench, listening to old cassette tapes, buried in a little wax sculpture, he would have worked on for hours. I was especially fascinated about his collection of big colored gemstones, and on a beautiful day, he would get me one, and I would proudly keep it close to my heart for days. Today, I think what fascinates me the most about the work, might be the need of the jeweller’s full immersion. Working with materials so precious needs one’s full thoroughness and awareness.”

    Interview Continues Below…

Q: The pieces that you design and craft have a rawness to them that’s both beautiful and curious — it’s obvious that your approach to materiality is very pure and uncontrived. When you start with a new design, what is the process like? Do you allow the material to guide the form, or are you normally focused on a per-determined path based off a sketch or model?

“Usually I will know where to go, but search for an inner picture, instead of a physical drawing. In that way, there is room for a revelation, and emotions and material will guide me home. As a jeweller, you don’t have much space to work on, no colour palettes to express with and you’re bound by weight, shape and size. Fortunately, the major differences lie in the smallest details, and thus the pieces always demand precision.”

Q: Each of your jewelry collections connect to a theme or concept based on history, art, poetry, or philosophy. Do you find yourself gravitating towards a specific period or era, such as the Renaissance or Age of Antiquity, as you build the foundation for the collection?

“I am highly inspired by the world of philosophy, art, and literature and I always find my self returning back to these in the search of beauty. It is difficult to pick a specific era that I prefer over another, as I find myself inspired by so many periods and movements within history. My collections do not have to be rooted in a specific era – for me it’s more important that they illustrate something that can inspire. “

Q: The pieces in your second collection, The Cosmogony, illustrate your imaginative storytelling in the from of jewelry. Together, they explore the myths of the universe and how order was unraveled from chaos. The outcome is undeniably exquisite and blurs the lines between modern fashion and ancient craft that shares a close connection to the elements. What was your process like when designing this collection, and did you imagine a specific woman archetype as the wearer?

“Your words mean everything to me, thank you Rebecca. As you state, The Cosmogony is an exploration of the ancient Greek and Roman creation myths. The design process was an intuitively outcome of thoughts, emotions, and imaginations linked to these fascinating creation myths. The process became a beautiful immersion in an imaginary worldview. I actually never imagine a specific archetype as the wearer, I hope the jewelry are for everyone that sees themselves in them.”

Q: All of your pieces are slowly-crafted by hand from gold, silver, or a gold-plated combination of the two. This type of artisan work also gives you the ability to create special pieces from a customer’s recycled gold. It’s so nice that the journey of a material can continue when you’ve crafted it into a new design, and I can imagine that some very special pieces have been born from this program you offer. What’s the process like when creating a custom piece of jewelry and how involved is the customer with the design usually? Can you tell me about some of your favorite projects?

“These projects are one of the most beautiful things to work with. My finest job is to get to know the bearers and find a way to let the jewelry speak their stories. My customers are so involved in the process, especially when the pieces are created for their loved ones. It always gives me butterflies, keeping the jewelry as small secrets until they finally are released and given. There are so many special projects through time – I could never choose one. Yet I’m so grateful and proud, being able to create a personal pieces of beautiful inherited gold while contributing to a more sustainable world.”

Q: You’ve mentioned that each of your collections are connected closely to your own personal journey through life. Have you focused on a theme or topic for your third collection, and could it reflect the recent change our world is going through today?

“It really could, and I would love to dive deeper into that. I love gravitating around everything that awakens sensitivity and explores new ways of seeing things. Though I’m already working on some projects, I can’t wait to show you!”

Carolina Herrera ~ When High Fashion Lends A Helping Hand

    May 15, 2020
Carolina Herrera Handbag - Beige Neutral Nude Cream Leather - 2020 Designer It Bag - Classic Style Timeless Fashion - Beige Aesthetic - Slow Fashion | RG Daily Blog

Since life around the world began to unravel due to COVID-19, brands across the board have stepped up in the time of need. Some companies have restructured manufacturing in order to produce in-demand supplies for front-line workers, and others have found ways to allocate a portion of their earnings to support those in-need — the fashion house of Carolina Herrera has decided to do both.

When the virus first hit Europe earlier in the year, Carolina Herrera was amongst some of the first designer fashion brands to refocus their manufacturing, producing sanitary gowns and masks on a mass scale. Since then, the brand has launched their #choosehope initiative through which they have committed to donating 10% of sales on all accessories to those impacted by the virus. This initiative will go until the end of 2020.

I was very kindly gifted this beautiful cream Doma Insignia bag right before the global situation became difficult. At that time, it didn’t feel quite right to put a focus on luxury goods, but I’ve been really impressed by the brand’s response and the way they’re using their business to help, so I wanted to share. I hope that more giants in the luxury fashion industry would take a similar approach. So, if you thinking about investing in an extraordinarily timeless, high-quality handbag that will last you for seasons to come, consider exploring the beautiful universe of Carolina Herrera. In addition to donating 10%, they are also offering a 10% discount to their customers on accessories.

Mellow Mind ~ Meditative Skincare From Denmark

    May 7, 2020
Mellow Mind - Natural Danish Skincare, Slow Living, Gua Sha Stone | Handmade Soaps, Light, Shadows, Shadow Play | Beauty Rituals, Natural Aesthetic, Product Photography, RG Daily Blog

Over the years, my skincare routine has evolved into something that feels less about necessity and more about enjoyment. It’s a habit that younger me thought of as a chore. But now, I really love this as a meditative and relaxing part of my day – something nurturing I do for myself, as a way to start or end the day, and I’m always curious to try new products or techniques.

Since a few weeks, I’ve been using a gua sha stone by Mellow Mind. This was my first experience trying this ancient skin scraping technique, and I must admit that I was a bit skeptical before I started. After a few days though, I sort of fell in love with the process and with the way my skin reacted. If you’re unfamiliar with gua sha, it’s a facial “massage” technique that involves scraping the skin in up and outwards strokes using a smoothe contoured stone and a facial oil. The process helps increase blood flow and circulation below the skin, while stimulating the lymph glands. This improves the texture of the skin and is known to create a fresh and healthy glow, but I also found that the massage helped me release some tension I hold in my face – especially in my jaw area.

Maria, the founder of Mellow Mind, offers online gua sha workshops so that you can learn everything you need to know about the techniques and benefits of this diy facial massage practice. And you can also visit her Instagram page for tutorials and tips.

Mellow Mind is based out of Kolding Denmark, and focuses on beauty products and bathroom accessories, as well as wellness lifestyle and yoga. The brand was founded in 2019 by Maria Grønborg who is a studied yoga and facial expert with a passion for movement, well-being and beauty. Maria also makes a wonderful range of organic and natural soaps, using locally sourced clays and minerals blended with vegan moisturizers like coconut oil and shea butter.

Home Updates ~ Soft & Neutral Touches

    May 5, 2020
Hay Matin Lamp, Marble Table, Neutral Curtains, Beige Home - Neutral Home, Scandinavian Aesthetic, Berlin Apartment, White Interior, Calm Lighting | RG Daily Blog

Our home has certainly become my little sanctuary, one with a soft and neutral color palette to calm the mind and relax the eye.

When we moved into this flat at the start of 2020, I was really excited to settle in and make it ours. But I never would have guessed I’d be spending so much time here! Most days, I’m really ok with it though, and I’ve been enjoying the process of creating a really calming atmosphere. Little by little, we’ve made small changes and welcomed new pieces into our 60-something square meter world. These days, it sure does feel like this place is the whole world.

Finally, I’m finished with all the painting projects around the flat. During the first few weeks of our “lock-down”, Sven and I repaired and painted the old windows and doors. This project was way more involved than I anticipated and took days to finish, but now it’s done and everything feels so much fresher. The taupe carpet is the latest thing to move in. I’ve had my eye on this wool-blend rug from H&M Home for a while now and was thrilled by the quality and the way it subtly warmed up the room. I’m still on the hunt for the right curtains in the living room, or perhaps I’ll keep the beige linen ones I’ve ordered — you’ll see that there is only one hanging in the photos, that’s because I’m still trying to make up my mind. I really like the texture and weight of these, which are from La Redoute, but the color feels a bit too mauve to me. I’m going to give them a few more days before I make up my mind.

And then of course there is my new beauty, the Matin Lamp by Hay. When I saw this lamp, it was love at first sight for me. It reminds me of the classic Le Klint 306 Lamp, but a bit more contemporary with such a nice feminine ambiance. I was planning to buy a dress to wear to our wedding celebration party, but when we had to postpone the big gathering until next year because of Covid-19, I decided to buy this lamp instead. I’ll have it forever, I’m sure — the ruffled white shade reminds me of frock too.

Our bedroom is still a bit of a work in progress. The bed area is quite empty right now and we decided to ditch our dark headboard and added white textile skirting around the base — I have the vision of transforming this area into a white fluffy cloud. More pillows are on the list, for sure. This little bed nook is tricky though because there are no outlets on the wall where the head of the bed is, which makes it hard to add lighting. I’m thinking that it would really benefit, both visually and practically, from some wall-mounted reading-lamps, but I’ll need to find a power solution first. Slowly, slowly it will all change. Like a little journey. Maybe at some point I’ll hang some art on the wall, but for now I’m still savoring the pureness of the bare walls.

Hope you all have a beautiful start into May.

    Xx – Rebecca

MUTI Skincare ~ Gentle & Natural Face Cleansers

    May 1, 2020
MUTI Skincare - Clean Facial Cleanser, Minimalist Everyday Skincare Routine | Natural Beauty, Packaging Design, Product Photography, Light & Shadows, Shadow Play - Slow Living & Self Care | RG Daily Blog

My skincare routine is one of my favorite daily rituals. There’s something so restorative and calming about a taking the time to give your face a little extra attention while helping it stay clean and nourished. Recently, I’ve been using the CLEAN line by MUTI — a collection of three unique facial cleansers, each formulated to suite different skin needs.

The products we use to cleanse our skin are just as important as all the fancy moisturizers, creams, and serums we use to nourish it. Often times, facial cleaners are formulated in a way to do one thing — clean like there’s no tomorrow, which ultimately leaves the skin dry and stripped of its natural oils. MUTI’s new CLEAN collection has a more gentle approach. Each of the three cleansers use special active ingredients that have been combined in a way to leave the skin’s natural balance undisrupted while clearing away impurities, excess sebum, makeup, and dead skin flakes.

For the last three weeks, I’ve been using a combination of all three cleansers (described below) and I have absolutely seen a noticeable evening in my complexion and softening of my skin. Each wash is incredibly gentle, and the natural fragrance of the product is super calming. MUTI also makes a great range of moisturizes and serums — their Anti-Age Night Cream has been my dream moisturizer and works wonders when combined with their serums like Vitamin C and Anti-Age. I have yet to try their SUN screen line, but I can imagine that it’s just as affective and high quality as their other products (in case you’re looking for some summer skin protection).

All MUTI products are free of parabens, silicones, mineral oils, paraffin and PEGs. Read more about their active ingredients here.

    My Thoughts On MUTI CLEAN

Hydrating Micellar Water – This cleansing water is my absolute favorite of the CLEAN line. Lazy girls (and guys) like me will love the no-rinse nature of this cleanser, making it the ideal solution for a quick and gentle refresh in the morning. The special mix of active ingredient and peptides calms stressed skin and lifts dead skin cells while pineapple based enzymes help to even the complexion.

GENTLE MILK CLEANSER – This amazingly gentle milk cleanser is my favorite after workout or before bed wash. The non-foaming formula is easy to massage into the skin and leaves your face feeling super soft and moisturized thanks to the mixture of vitamin E and apricot kernel oil which helps to preserve the skins natural lipids.

PURIFYING GEL CLEANSER – This soft lathering cleansing gel provides a bit of a deeper-clean feeling and is great to use when the skin is acting unblananced and moody eith blemishes or congested pores. Extract of bitter orange blossoms provides a cleansing, antimicrobial effect while vegetable-based inulin compounds protect the skin from dehydration.

Mindful Travel with PROJECTKIN ~ Sustainable Luggage from Denmark

    April 20, 2020
PROJECTKIN Travel Suitcase - Sustainable Luggage and travel accessories from eco friendly materials | Danish design, Scandinavian products, mindful accessories, luggage | product photography, shadows, light, minimalist aesthetic | RG Daily Blog

I’m looking forward to the days ahead, when the world is healthy again and I can finally travel to see my family. When that time comes, I’ll have my PROJECTKIN luggage in tow.

I know that right now, not many people are focusing on travel and this post might feel a little off-beat. But I’m optimistic that the time will come again, and that’s why I want to share more about PROJECTKIN. They are a brand built on a strong foundation of things I can really get behind, like sustainability and design that will serve a lifetime. Right now, PROJECTKIN is donating 50% of their earnings to WHO to support those impacted by Covid-19.

PROJECTKIN is a new luggage and travel accessories brand based out of Copenhagen and specializing in sustainable products for the mindful traveler. Making sustainability an extension of the Nordic design tradition, where functionality and simplicity are key, PROJECTKIN dove deep into the world of materials in order to create a collection with the lowest environmental impact, guided by the highest standards for design.

At first sight, it’s obvious that there is something truly special about all of PROJECTKIN’s travel accessories because of their materiality. The KIN carry-on is made from a unique fiber-based bioplastic with biodegradable properties. All of the KIN fabric accessories and interior linings are made from highly durable flax-based linen — a textile resource that requires far less water to grow compared to cotton while generating very minimal post-production waste. PROJECTKIN also uses sustainably focused materials such as bonded hemp, which can be cultivated without the use of chemical pesticides. All of the leather detailing through the collection comes from metal-free tanneries, using only vegetable-tanned leathers made with organic tree bark and leaves.

And of course, their timeless, durable, and thoughtful designs support their main vision — to change the standards for products and the way people travel for the good of the planet.

Get to know PROJECTKIN’s full sustainable collection.

Life at Home ~ Snapshots During Social Distancing

    April 15, 2020
White interior design inspo, slow living, scandinavian style, round mirror, high ceilings, wood floors, simple styling, Berlin | RG Daily Blog

Home, home, home… it’s the place to be these days, isn’t it?! Today, I thought I would share a few random snapshot of what life looks like at home for Sven and me. This is just a mix of images that have accumulated on my iPhone – from interior snaps, to quarantine outfit pics.

Even though I’ve been working home office for a few years already and would consider myself a homebody, spending this much time inside does feel a bit strange. I’ve been trying to make the best of it by taking on a few home projects, and simply enjoying the slow living lifestyle. But I also feel a bit sad some days. Like so many other people, lots has changed recently. Sven and I had to indefinitely postpone our wedding celebration in the US. I’m still holding onto hope that we will be able to have the party in Germany like we planned this June, but I’m not feeling very confident in that. The hardest thing is not being able to see family, or know when we will be able to see them next. But I know we’re not alone in these hardships, and somehow that makes it a bit easier to cope.

Life is slow, and feels pretty strange most days. But staying positive and looking at the plus side to all this helps. I’m thankful for our home, and Sven and I really enjoy being here. For the first time since we moved to Germany, I feel at home and calm about where we are. We spent the long Easter weekend painting a few things around the flat, and Sven even started a new project for us – polishing the brass handles for the windows and doors. I couldn’t believe how beautiful they are – it’s been hidden by decades of oxidation and paint layers. We’ve also been enjoying our little balcony, eating lots of olives with wine when we’re not drinking coffee. It’s funny how similar our flat is to the flat I described in a blogpost I wrote back in 2017 – Sven and I have been talking about our “future home” for a long time. Now it feels like we’re living there.

Hope you enjoy this mix of snaps from my iPhone from the last few days! Sending love and healthy, positive thoughts to you all.

    ~ Rebecca

Staying In ~ Details From Our Neutral Home

    April 1, 2020
Grey Sofa | neutral interior, white and beige home, wood floors, minimalist simple decor, natural berlin apartment, Scandinavian design, calm aesthetic

I thought it would be a good time to share a few home updates, since it’s where most of us are spending our time these days. I still wake up everyday thankful that we get to call this place home.

I can’t believe that we’ve been living here in this flat for three months. It feels like we only just signed the lease and collected our keys. But at the same time, it feels like it’s been ages since I left. I’m thankful that Sven and I were able to move before Covid-19 happened, because I enjoy having more room and the little details here. I still have many projects on my to-do list, and many nice design pieces on my home wishlist.

As the year goes by, I hope to swap out a few décor items and lamps. I also plan to put some art on the walls eventually. We’ve held back on putting any holes in the walls since we just spent a lot of money to have the whole place painted. But now that we’ve been here for a few months, I’m feeling ready. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect curtains for the living room, and I’ve also been thinking about a rug for the main lounge area. I would like to replace the coffee tables at some point too, but these little no-name wire tables are so versatile.

I’ll keep sharing updates as I change things around – here are the latest snapshots.

    Stay healthy and safe,

    xx – Rebecca

Foresta Collection ~ Mindful Design For Sustainability & Fair-Trade

    March 29, 2020
Foresta Arco Candle Holder, KleoCo. Ceramics ~ Table Setting, Slow Living, Simple For Everyday, Ethical Sustainable Brand, Fair Trade Design | Minimalist Home, Scandinavian Design, Sustainable Home, Natural Aesthetic | Product Photography, Light and Shadows, Danish Design Interior | RG Daily Blog

Born in the forests of Central America, FORESTA is an emerging design brand that I now have the pleasure of working with. The collection that I’ve designed for FORESTA celebrates the dynamic attributes of their sustainable teak wood — sculptural, architectural, and wonderfully made by nature.

I’m very excited to be sharing this selection of images featuring the Arco Candle Holder. This design is scheduled to launch towards the end of summer. Originally, our plan was to introduce FORESTA Collection in May in Copenhagen during 3daysofdesign. However, because of the current situation surrounding Covid-19, our launch has been rescheduled for September to coincide with the postponement of 3daysofdesign. In the meantime, I want to tell you all a bit more about our first collection and the vision FORESTA and I share for these designs.

As I’ve shared in an earlier post, FORESTA specializes in sustainable tropical timbers and is deeply committed to the environment and fair-trade. Their mission has been to revitalize the forestry industry in Honduras, working exclusively with plantations who naturally cultivate and harvest teak and mahogany without the use of pesticides or fertilizers. Through their core line of business in the timbers industry, FORESTA is able to connect buyers directly to the plantations. By doing so, FORESTA can ensure a fair price falls back into the hands of the foresters who renew and harvest these natural resources in a traditional, chemical-free way.

In 2019, FORESTA and I began working together on a new element of their brand — FORESTA Collection. Every decision throughout the design process was made with the intention of keeping FORESTA Collection keenly sensitive to the land that supplies our timbers and the people who manufacture our designs. The collection has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate FORESTA’s inherent connection to nature, working exclusively with FORESTA’s own specialty teak wood. Each piece is hand-manufactured at a small, artisanal workshop close to FORESTA’s plantations in Honduras. The designs were first and foremost guided by our appreciation for solid wood, allowing the material to be the focus of the object while the form subtlety supports the function.

The first collection will consist of six unique designs and includes accent tables, seating, and functional objects like the Arco Candle Holder featured here. Timelessness as a form of sustainability also became a guiding principal to our work, and this is why our designs connect well to the aesthetic values of minimalism. Slow-living and Caribbean vibes blended with the design simplicity of Northern Europe is the heartbeat of FORESTA’s brand ethos — an ethos that is also defined by FORESTA’s commitment to work ethically and sustainably. In the weeks to come, we will begin sharing more details of our other designs, and I look forward to unveiling more of our collection as we come closer to our launch in September. In this article, you can get to know our first reveal, Arco, as both a candle holder and sculpture.

Until then, I invite you to read more about FORESTA’s sustainable plantations and check out the beautiful images on their website.
