    Hey guys,

    Above are a few shots from my weekend trip to the mountains – such a memorable weekend 🙂

    There were not as many fall colors as I had hoped for, but it was still so beautiful. We went on a hike to a vista with a 360 view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was so breathtaking and really made me miss living up there (it’s the area I called home for 3 years before moving to Greensboro).

    I didn’t get many photos of the adventures we had in downtown Ashville because I don’t really feel comfortable hauling my DSLR everywhere – the macro lens seems to make people feel a little uncomfortable I think and it’s really heavy on my shoulder after a while. But I’m really excited because after I got home last night, I decided to buy a compact 50mm lens which will be way less “in your face” and much easier to take with me – I think I’ll feel a little more comfortable shooting while I’m out-and-about with a downsized lens.

    It should arrive tomorrow so I’m sure I’ll have lots of new photos to share once I start photographing with it 🙂

    Fall color

    Hey peeps,

    Happy Friday – this weekend has felt like it’s been a long time coming. Even though I really enjoy my job, I’m always ready for some downtime when the weekend arrives.

    I’m headed up to Ashville for a little getaway tomorrow morning and I’m really looking forward to it. We’ll be visiting one of my best girlfriends who I haven’t seen in over a year! We have plans to do a little hiking, check out some local breweries, wander though the shops, eat yummy food, and see some live music! It’s going to be so great 🙂 I hope we’ll be able to see some early fall colors in the trees! The mountains are also so pretty when the leaves start to turn.

    I’m going to make a massive effort to shoot some photos using my DSLR and NOT my iPhone while I’m there – the quality is just so much better.

    Also, how pretty is that blush colored lace up top?! I think it’s a perfect color for fall – it will look so nice with some black ankle boots.

    Airy bedroom

    Hey peeps,

    So a made a few changes in my bedroom – went back to my white pillow shams, swapped out my throw blanket for something a bit more snuggly, and re-accessorized my night table. I love how clean and airy it feels right now!

    There’s something so refreshing about waking up on white sheets – I absolutely love it.

    I’m thinking about buying a new white linen duvet for fall/winter and pairing it with a chunky knit blanket. I’ve seen that combination lately on a few interior design sites and I’m a little obsessed 😛

    Right now, Target it running a sale on the linen duvet I have with lost of colors to pick from other than grey – maybe I’ll go ahead a buy it in white since I already know that I like the quality.

    The marble candle holder is something else I picked up from  Target – it’s truly a soap dish, but whatever. In the past I’ve used it as a spoon rest next to my stove and now I’m using it as a candle holder… maybe one day I’ll actually put a bar of soap on it 😉

    A Calming and Minimal Living Room

    Hey fellows,

    Here are some recent shots from my home. I re-arranged my living room the other night after having to move literally everything in order to clean the floors. I somehow managed to bring back in my yoga mat what seemed to be a shore-line’s worth of sand from my recent visit to the beach and it got everywhere!

    Anyways, I’m not sure if I’ll keep things like this or not – the change is nice though 🙂

    Now I’m off for a run before going out for dinner and drinks with the girls! The city is having a 3 day music and arts festival which starts tonight – everything will literally take place right outside of my apartment so it should be a fun weekend!

    Hey babes,

    So here are a few of my favorite iPhone shots from the trip I just got back from. It was so nice to finally be ocean side soaking up the sun.

    Unfortunately I feel like my time of vacation went by too quickly, but then again it was a very short trip – just three days and two nights. I made the most of it by waking up early every morning to watch the sunrise on the beach during morning yoga. It’s too bad I can’t start every day like that!

    I’m thinking about maybe planning one more beach trip before the summer is gone completely – before I know it, it’s going to be fall.

    Had this yummy protien smoothie bowl for breakfast today – here’s the recipe.

    Blend
    greek yogurt
    banana
    almond milk
    protein powder (I like the Chocolate flavor by Designer Whey)

    Top with banana, coconut flakes, chia seeds, chopped almonds – yum!

    Gotta run now though! Going to yoga class then after that, my friend Ashley is coming over for lunch.

    Hey guys,

    How delicious does this basil look? I picked it up at the grocery store the other day and couldn’t help but snap a few photos because of how fresh it looked on my little kitchen window. I love having tomato, basil, mozzarella sandwiches in the summer time – tomatoes and herbs don’t get any fresher than this time of year.

    I didn’t do a lot of shooting over this weekend because I was pretty busy with other things. I spent the day out on the lake with my family yesterday – I haven’t paid them a visit in a while so it was good to drop in for a quick trip.

    Now I’m off to start a new work week… Happy Monday!

    Hey guys,

    This week has been a weird one for me.

    Since Wednesday, I’ve been living in iPhone trouble-shooting hell. My phone has been on the fritz and it’s been so frustrating because I’ve lost so much data and have had touch and go contact with everyone. I didn’t realized just how dependent I am on the thing until it stopped working… After spending almost every minute after work trying to get it sorted, I think that it’s finally functioning properly.

    So yeah, that’s been my week. I’m going to have a quite evening on my sofa tonight though and I’m certainly looking forward to it. I feel like I’ve been going non-stop lately so a bit of R&R will do me well.

    Anyways, here are a few shots from my home which I took recently… I wish I was there right now having lunch instead of my desk in the office 😛

    Hey babies,

    How pretty is this watch from Rosefield? I love the clean, minimalistic design of their watches – even though the diameter of the face is oversized, the thickness is not which makes it really comfortable to wear.

    Also, the straps are interchangeable – talk about versatility! I already have a set of grey leather strays which I can swap out the movement on, and I’m thinking about buying the brown leather set.

    Hey fellows,

    So here are a few shots of some items which I ordered from H&M Home – they recently launched their online store and I was pleasantly surprised by the things they had… and it’s all so inexpensive!

    I ordered the black pillow cover because I wanted to see how nice the quality was before I ordered more for my other pillows. I’ve had big plans to sew my own pillow covers, but that’s never going to happen now since I know where to buy them for $6! (I think that my time is worth more than that, haha)

    Sunday brunch

    Hey fellows,

    So today I woke up pretty early, snoozed in bed for a bit then got up and ran 7 miles before going to yoga class. By the time I got home, I had worked up a massive appetite.

    So I made this delicious brunch – fried egg, sautĂ©ed spinach, rosemary sweet potatoes, buttered bagel, berries, and iced espresso with milk. Yum!

    I think my favorite part of this brunch was the sweet potato chips – you can make them in the microwave surprisingly quick. Here’s my recipe:

    Rosemary Sweet Potato Chips

    Toss together:
    Thinly sliced sweet potatoes
    Chop fresh rosemary
    Olive oil
    Salt and pepper

    Spread the seasoned potatoes out on a large plate and microwave for 5 mins.

    That’s literally all there is to it… just be careful to not chop your fingers off when slicing 😛
