    Hey babies,

And as promised, here are a few shots from the changes in my living room. Sorry they are a bit dark – I shot them after work yesterday and the sun wasn’t as bight as it’s been at that hour… the heartbreaking sign that summer is on its way out.

How stunning is this little lounge chair though!? It’s a new release from the company I work for, Davis Furniture. This one was an other leftover from prototype parts – the real-deal chair has slightly different angles on the armrest foam.

This didn’t matter to me though! I think it looks just perfect in my home.

Everything is so monochromatic and I’m in love…

Honestly, the only color now comes from the green in my plants. Do they grow black and white plants? If they did, I would totally have them šŸ˜›

But now it’s Friday night, so I’m off to have some fun!

    Hey fellows,

Over the weekend, I picked up these glasses at Target of all places Ā and I’m in love. I love the shape and they were a total steal. I bought them to replace the really nice Persol set which I lost šŸ™ so irritating…

    Glasses here

I’ve been terrible lately about posting, but I want to get some photos of my home up soon. I moved a few things around, got a new chair, and some new prints for my walls! I just need to find the time to shoot when the lighting is nice.

Ps. How insanely awesome does that cookie look!? Sheilla and I split it because it was literally the size of my face.

Had this tasty dinner on my patio the other night – salad, toast, chickpea relish, and vodka lemonade with rosemary!

I tried something different on toast – homemade pesto cannellini spread topped with mushrooms and buffalo mozzarella – yum!

    Chia Pudding

Before yoga class this morning, I had another yummy breakfast outside. I havenā€™t made Chia Pudding in forever and have forgotten about how much I like it.

Itā€™s super easy to make, but the only hard part about it is that you have to remember to make it the night before!

    Hereā€™s my recipe:
    1 cup almond milk
3 table spoons of chia seeds

And thatā€™s it! Just let it sit in the fridge overnight and ta-da ā€“ two servings of chia pudding!

I topped mine with bananas, goji berries, and raw coconut flakes.

    Hey babies,

Iā€™ve spent a little bit of time this weekend moving some things around in my home.

I got a new table from work which I put at the foot of my bed ā€“ it was a prototype of a design which we decided to not introduce and since it was my project to develop, I was able to bring it home with me ā€“ talk about an awesome perk!

I want to print something different than the palm photos for my room because it seems silly to have two of basically the same photos in the same spaceā€¦ Iā€™ll get around to that at some point I guess.

    Weekend laziness

    Happy Saturday peeps,

This morning, I was insanely lazy and it was glorious.

Last night I was out late with my girlfriends ā€“ the 5 of us started off the evening at my place with pizza and beer before going to the Louie CK comedy show, and of course we ended up getting more drinks afterā€¦ Needless to say, a lazy Saturday was much needed.

Iā€™ve been working on getting my balcony put together over this past week ā€“ I canā€™t believe itā€™s taken me over seven months to move my bike and utility ladder to proper storage!

So today, I was finally able to enjoy my breakfast outside ā€“ yogurt, berries, coconut flakes, and fresh mint ā€“ yum!

This week I went on a bit of a plant buying rampage ā€“ My home is starting to look like a green house!

I think my favorite new plant is the spearmint which I bought at a weird little garden shop in High Point while I was on lunch break. It smells so amazing and looks so pretty!

    Open face sandwich

Lately Iā€™ve been trying to break out of the box a little with what I eat. Itā€™s easy to fall into a minimalistā€™s approach to grocery shopping when you live by yourself and Iā€™ve honestly been pretty content keeping it simple ā€“ lots of raw fruits and veggies.

However, I donā€™t think this approach has been good for my energy levels. So I did something I never doā€¦ I made chicken.

Which I put on these delicious open face sandwiches!

    CrunchyĀ ChickenĀ Avocado Sandwich

    Whole grain toast
    Mashed avocado
    Alfalfa sprouts
    Crunchy almond chicken

And hereā€™s how I made the chicken:
Bake unseasoned chicken breast (remove from oven before fully cooked)
    Chop chicken
Toss in pan with light avocado oil
Add a splash of balsamic and a handful of sliced almonds

    Hi guys,

I haven’t posted in a while because I’ve been away for a visit with my Nana. She lives 10 hours from me, so I don’t get to see her as often as I would like. Usually when I do get a chance to visit, there are lots of other family members there which makes it hard to get any quality one-on-one time together.

I decided to take a few days off work and made the drive out to her home, The Easterwood House, in north-western Alabama – her and my Papaw have lived there my entire life and they used to run it as a B&B. To me, it’s a place full of memories.

Nana and I didn’t do much of anything at all which was exactly what I wanted to do… relax and chat.

So anyways… that’s what I’ve been up to. I’m back home now and don’t have any more trips planned until September – I’m going to the beach!

    Sunday breakfast

    Happy Sunday!

This day has been fantastic so far and I’m feeling tip-top šŸ™‚

Why? Because I woke up this morning, ran 10 miles and then went to yoga class – talk about being productive! (my body is so sore)

Anyways, I made a yummy smoothie bowl after my workout so I thought I would share the recipe.

Blend – banana, green apple, kiwi, and greek yogurt
Top – chia seeds, coconut flakes, berries

I would also like to note that my latte art is getting (slightly) better… I’ve advanced from white circles and am now relatively proficient at making amoeba-like ferns… it’s abstract, ok šŸ˜›

Now I’m off to run a few errands before this evenings holiday festivities begin – they’re having a block party outside of my apartment so it should be a fun night!

    Talk soon,

    Editing my photos

    June 27, 2016
    Edit1

    Hey guys,

The most popular compliment I get on my blog is about my photography – So today, I thought I would share a little bit about how I shoot and edit my photos šŸ™‚

Being a very visual person, I think that photography is important… it also happens to be a much enjoyed hobby of mine.

I’m not saying that I’m a professional in any regards, but here are a few tricks I’ve learned as I’ve dabbled in photography and editing which have helped me create a clean, airy aesthetic.

Lighting – 99% of my photos are shot in natural daylight.
White balance – As you can see from the shot above, I filtered out all of the yellow tones from the original image.
Depth of field – I like shooting with a shallow depth of field because I think it helps the viewer focus on what’s important in the image.

I shoot with a Canon EOS 40D and edit all of my photos in Adobe Lightroom.

    Happy to be home

    June 19, 2016

    Hello!

So lately Iā€™ve been terrible about blogging, but I decided to give myself a bit of a sabbatical since Iā€™ve been so busy with travel for work and everything else going on.

Honestly, this month has been a complete blur! After three trips to Chicago followed by a weekend trip for my brotherā€™s wedding, Iā€™m feeling pretty excited to be home. Donā€™t get me wrong ā€“ all of these events have been really great, but Iā€™m happy to get back to my normal workout routine, eating habits, and nights in my own bed!

Speaking of which, I finally got around to shooting the linen bedding I boughtā€¦

For years my bedding has been completely white, but I decided to bring a bit of neutral color into the room with a new duvet and shams ā€“ still couldnā€™t give up my white sheets though, haha.

I moved my bed in front of the window but Iā€™m not sure if I like it there since I canā€™t prop up on my pillows any longer without running the risk of pulling my curtains down. Maybe Iā€™ll move it back or maybe Iā€™ll buy a headboard.

    Duvet and shams from here

    XO
