Chicago No. 1

    June 9, 2016

    Hey guys,

So here are a few shot I took on my last trip to Chicago. I flew up for a quick one-nighter because I had a few things to take care of in our showroom before NeoCon starts, but before my flight back I had a little bit of time to stroll around the city.

    Untitled-13

I love the mashup between new and old architecture that happens there.

So I’ve officially fallen in love with this donut shop called Firecakes. They literally have donuts the size of my face! I’ve been there three times over the course of the two trips I’ve taken to Chicago in the month of June – and I’ll shamelessly go back while I’m in town again for this next trip!

    Untitled-12

Lastly, the river is maybe my favorite part of the city. I’ve walked and run so many miles on the river walk and it never gets old to me.

I’m flying back again tomorrow morning and will be there until Wednesday. I’m really excited to start sharing photos of our showroom – we really have some beautiful new designs which we’re releasing this year and I can’t wait to share them with you guys!

    June 6, 2016
Green Apple Smoothie Bowl recipe berry apple banana chia coconut rg daily blog

Swap out your sweet red for sour green apples to add some zing to your morning smoothie bowl!

Granny Smith apples are an excellent sour substitute to their sweater alternative such as Mt. Fuji or Gala Apples. This morning I whipped up this green apple smoothie bowl that was the perfect combination of sweet and sour!

    Blend
    Green apple
    Banana
    Strawberries
    Greek yogurt
    Top
    Fruit
    Chia seeds
    Coconut flakes

    June 4, 2016

    Hey guys!

It’s been far too long time since I posted! I’ve been in Chicago for work and didn’t have any time to blog or shoot photos. Here are a few photos of things that happened last month.

    _MG_4740

I visited my parents for Mother’s Day weekend and spent some time on the lake.

    _MG_5248

I bought an expresso machine and it has quickly become my favorite belonging.

    _MG_6333

I ate so many smoothie bowls and have been trying lots of recipes which I’m looking forward to sharing.

    _MG_6312

I bought a tripod for my camera – hopefully I’ll be able to start sharing more outfit and fashion posts.

    _MG_6163

I finally found a rug for my living room that I can live with. It’s not white, but I think it looks really nice with my sofa.

    _MG_6425

I got creative with crepes – this was a savory mix of apples, herb goat cheese, almonds, cracked pepper, and balsamic.

And finally, I spent a lot of time drinking coffee on my sofa… still haven’t improved my latte art skills though 😛

I hope to be better about blogging but if you don’t see anything, it’s because this month is insanely busy! Three trips to Chicago, my brother’s wedding, my birthday, a girls weekend, and day-to-day life are all things I have going on in the month of June! How nuts does that sounds?

    Courtyard branches

    Hi friends,

Hope everyone is having a nice long weekend! Mine has been nice but for some reason I’ve had almost no energy – hopefully tomorrow I’ll wake up feeling refreshed instead of exhausted!

Anyways, here are some shots of my dining room. A few nights ago, I went out to the courtyard of my building and took a few branches. Hopefully the HOA doesn’t mind!
I’m not really a huge fan of true “decorations” but I really like decorating my home with plants, flowers, and greenery. I think it makes it feel so fresh and also makes the view from my apartment more bearable (all I get to look at from my window is a rundown brick building and the train tracks).

You can see from the picture above that the window over the kitchen sink peers into my dining room. I’m happy that I have that window but I would really prefer it if my kitchen were open to the rest of my apartment because it’s always too dark in there without a light on! But there’s not much I can do about that since I’m renting – haha. Guess I should be content with what I have and quit complaining 😉

The glass vase on my table is from Target and the glass pitcher on my kitchen windowsill is from Ikea.

Now I’m off to get in a long workout. I think that a good sweat session is just what I need to get my adrenaline up again!

    Hey peeps – happy Friday!

So my new leather shoulder bag from Genuine People finally arrived and I’m obsessed! It’s so simple and minimalistic – perfect for almost any outfit.
I can’t wait to wear it this weekend with the little white knit crop top I also ordered 🙂

Hopefully I’ll be able to snap a few outfit photos!

    In New, Style

    Just another print

    May 25, 2016
    _MG_5884 _MG_5880 _MG_5872

    Hey guys,

So I took these photos the other day of my bedroom because I hung a new print over my bed.

Isn’t it funny? It’s particularly suiting right now because of how insanely busy I’ve been with work! It seems like there are a million things hanging over my head right now with NeoCon just around the corner!

Sorry for the bad photos.. My room is so very tiny that it’s hard to shoot! I’m thinking about putting my bed in front of the window – maybe it will make the room feel a little bigger.

I’m sharing these now though because my new linen bedding finally came and I’m so excited about it! It gives the room a totally different look – probably because it’s not white!

Never in a million years did I think I would buy anything but white bedding…

I’ll share new (and hopefully better) photos soon when I have some time to shoot in better lighting.

    Everyday protein smoothie

    May 24, 2016
    _MG_5935 _MG_5938 _MG_5976

    Hey guys,

Lately I’ve been eating very little meat (actually, almost no meat) so I decided to add some protein to my diet by working it into my everyday smoothie. I’ve started using Designer Whey protein power and I like it a whole lot. It is low in both sugar and calories but has a good amount of protein and vitamins!

I picked mine up at Trader Joes, but you can find it online here – Designer Whey Protein

Here’s a smoothie recipe I used the other day:
    Gala apple
    Banana
    Strawberries
    Greek yogurt
    Raw coconut flakes
    Protein powder

Tip – if your smoothie ends up a little thick, try adding a splash of coconut water! I’ve been doing this recently and I like it a lot! It tastes really great and is a good way to sneak in a little extra potassium.

Hope you guys enjoy this recipe 🙂

    New frames and prints

    May 22, 2016
    _MG_5759 _MG_5753 _MG_5807 _MG_5816 _MG_5820 _MG_5792

    Hey peeps,

So I finally got around to putting some prints into actual frames instead of just taping them to my wall.

I tried shooting the one I hung over my sofa, but the glare from the sun kept washing out the type on the print. It’s a new one that I did last week of one of my favorite quotes from The Princess Bride which says,

“Let’s look on the bright side: we’re having an adventure and most people live and die without being as lucky as we are.”

Now before you say, “Hey, that’s not a quote from The Princess Bride!” get your facts straight because it’s from the book, ya muppets, not the movie 😛

Now I’m off to get in a long run – have to sweat off all the beer and pizza I had yesterday for my friends’ birthday party!

    Favorite breakfast bowl

    May 21, 2016
    _MG_5713 _MG_5716 _MG_5718 _MG_5740 _MG_5719

    Good morning and happy Saturday!

I have a smoothie almost every day for breakfast, but on Saturdays I usually like to make them a little extra special. Today I made my favorite breakfast bowl and topped it with lots of yummy things!

Here is my favorite smoothie recipe:

    Blend
    – Gala apple
    – Banana
    – Greek yogurt
    – Strawberries

    Top with
    – Golden flax seeds
    – Chia seeds
    – Coconut flakes
    – Banana
    – Apple

I also made the best latte so far since I bought my new espresso machine! While I definitely wouldn’t consider myself to be a “latte artist”, my “latte art” is getting better – still have a long way to go before I can pour anything that’s worth being proud of haha!

    Bag obsession

    May 15, 2016
    Bagobsession

    Good morning!
Woke up today and spent a little time cruising Pinterest for handbags – these are the ones that caught my eye. Aren’t they all so gorgeous?

I need to get a new tote bag for work which will fit my laptop because the one I have now has been so many places, it’s almost ready to fall apart. I need to get something soon because I have some work trips coming ups and the bag I have now definitely wouldn’t survive! I’m also thinking about getting a smaller bag to use when I’m not hauling a million things with me like I do in my tote!

Now I’m off for my Sunday long run!

    Saturday crepes

    May 14, 2016
    _MG_5315 _MG_5322 _MG_5329 _MG_5332

    Hi fellows,

Caroline came over for brunch today and we made crepes! I’m not very good at making crepes because I haven’t done it in years, but they tasted so yummy! It’s nice to have a little treat on the weekend that isn’t 100% healthy 😉

We topped them with fresh fruit and Nutella – Yum!

The crepe recipe I used was very simple:
    1 egg
    1 cup flour
    1 cup milk
    And that’s it!

I blended everything together in my NutriBullet and then poured the batter into a hot pan with butter. Hopefully I’ll get a little better at making theme round haha.

Now I’m off to run some errands.

    Talk soon!

    Fiddle leaf fig tree

    _MG_5113 _MG_5154 _MG_5172 _MG_5182 _MG_5186 _MG_5150 _MG_5106

    Hi babes,

I finally got my fig tree! Yesterday during my break from work, I went over to the local nursery and picked out this beauty. Isn’t it neat?

I want to get a different container for it and I’ve had my eyes on a bag from Uashmama for a while now… Maybe I’ll order one now that I have a tree to go in it.

As of right now, this is how my living room looks but it’s going to change very soon because I finally got frames for my prints! I’m also hoping to find an area rug this weekend 🙂

    Talk soon,

    RG
