    Hey fellows,

I did a little bit of rearranging/decorating in my bedroom yesterday. These are a few shots of how it looks now, but who knows how long it will stay this way!

As you can see from the images, my bedroom is extremely small – so small that I can basically fit only my bed in it with little room to spare! I suppose it’s fits the definition of a bedroom well, haha!

Surprisingly enough, I don’t mind that my bedroom is so tiny. Since I don’t have any room for any mess or clutter, it stays perfectly clean and is very relaxing to be in 🙂

This past weekend, I went home to visit my family for Mother’s day. They live on the lake in the country – it’s always so nice to visit them and get a break from the city.

These are just a few shot of the things we snacked on while I was there. I spent some time cooking with my mom which was very nice – she has a beautiful garden which is growing a lot of fresh veggies! I wish I could grow lettuce on my balcony, haha.

    Saturday morning treat

    Hi babes,

Stopped by my local bakery this morning, The Table. The margarine was so pretty that I just had to shoot it while I was doing a little Saturday morning reading!

Now I’m off to the Lake to see my family. We’re having a celebration for my dad’s birthday and mother’s day – it’s going to be so much fun!

I’ll try to take some photos of the lake while I’m there because it’s just so beautiful 🙂

Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

    White, grey, black, and green!

    May 4, 2016
White, grey, black, and green! White, grey, black, and green! White, grey, black, and green! White, grey, black, and green! White, grey, black, and green! White, grey, black, and green!

    Hey babes,

I’m really excited about sharing these photos because I’m finally starting to feel like my home is feeling like a home!

Yesterday, I bought this black lamp from a neat little store in downtown Greensboro called Design Archives – and for such an amazing deal too! I’ll probably get something different later and I’ve had my eyes on a white Grasshopper Lamp for a while now, but it’s going to be a long time before I can buy one of those!

I moved my white drawers around. Earlier, I had both of them together but now they are apart from each other. Over the weekend, I got a new mirror so that’s now with one of the drawers in my living room. The other is in my entry way – maybe I’ll photograph that soon.

I also move a lot of the prints I have to the wall behind my sofa. Of course they aren’t in frames yet, and at the rate I’ve been moving them around they might be worn out before I ever get them in frames! I just can’t make up my mind on where I want them… typical me.

I plan to have my green lounge chair reupholstered in a super light grey wool felt. I’ve had this chair for almost 10 years now. Originally, it was mustard yellow!

Soon I hope to buy an area rug for my coffee table. Can you guess what color? White of course! If I wasn’t still renting I would have already painted my wood floors white. If I did that now though it would probably give my landlord a heart attack!

Maybe one day I’ll have a home with white wood floor 🙂

    Have a nice night!

    Indoor Arboricola

It’s amazing the difference a little touch of green can bring to your home.

I bought this cute Arboricola plant yesterday to live indoors with me. Having plants and flowers inside the home has always made me feel happy. My apartment gets a ton of natural light so I hope it will be happy too!

The basket is something I also picked up yesterday – it’s a find from TJ Maxx so unfortunately I can’t provide you with a link to the exact same one. I’ve listed something similar below which I actually like better than the one I got… maybe I’ll order it for myself!?

    Neutral Living Room Details

There’s something so fresh and calming about a neutral living room.

I found this tan throw blanket at Target the other day and instantly feel in love. It’s the perfect weight for the spring time and makes my new sofa feel oh-so cozy.

My pillows look really silly right now because they don’t have any covers on them. I took the covers off a few weeks ago and am planning to sew some new ones for them, but I have to borrow the sewing machine from my mom. I’m going to visit her next weekend so my pillows won’t be naked for too much longer… which is good because feathers are literally getting everywhere.

I thought the wall looked a little bare so while I was shooting this morning, I quickly taped up an old drawing I did. As you can see, it didn’t work out too well 😛
I have a lot more decorating to do before my home is completely put together, but it’s a process! I will probably change it a million times before I’m happy with how it look – but that’s just the curse of being a designer.

    Tropical Smoothie Blend

Adding mango to your smoothie can transform any normal fruit combination into tropical smoothie paradise!

A few days ago, my friend Shelia came to visit and we made this delicious tropical smoothie for breakfast. Normally I make this smoothie with an apple, but on this day I used a mango and it was so good! I usually shy away from mangos because they can be tricky and time-consuming to peel and cut, but I think I’m getting much better at it now that I’ve been eating them more! Does anyone have any tips on how to quickly cut and peel this fruit? If you do, let me know!

    – R E C I P E –

    Mango
    Strawberries
    Banana
    Golden flax seeds
    Water

Hope you enjoy! This smoothie is so good – I would even have it as a dessert 🙂

    Palm Tree Print

This breezy and simple palm tree print remind me of summer holidays and looks oh-so minimalistic in my living room.

Over the weekend, I spent a little bit of time decorating my apartment. I’ve been living here since December and am only now getting around to putting up some prints! It has taken me a while to get settled in but I’m happy with how everything is coming along. It’s amazing how little touches like art, plants and candles will really make a place feel like a home! I still have so many other things I want to do but it really is a process… especially when I can’t go out and buy everything I want all at once! I’m ok with that though because this way of life makes me really selective of the things I welcome into my home.

Here are a few photos of how I styled the credenza in my living room. I’ll probably change it around soon, but I think that the way I looks now is nice. The poster is a print of a photo I took while I was in Mexico a few months ago. I like how it makes my apartment feel so summery! Instead of putting it in a frame, I decided to hang it using an artist clip. I think that the clip looks really clean and it also allows me to change the print very quickly if I get tired of having it there.

Pretty soon, I will share photos of my whole apartment and living room. I haven’t taken many pictures because it has been very empty, but that’s all about to change tonight! The sofa I ordered is finally arriving and I couldn’t be more excited 🙂 5 months without a sofa is quite some time to spend somewhere!

One of the best advantages of smoothie bowls (besides how good they are for you) is how little effort goes into making them! This morning, I made this delicious berry chia energy bowl before heading out the door to work. I thought I would share it with you guys because it turned out to be so yummy!

    Here’s what went in it:
Blend – apple, strawberries, blueberries, and Greek yogurt
Top – chia seeds, banana slices, and coconut flakes

Hope you enjoy this recipe 🙂

    Strawberry Smoothie with Golden Flax

Spring is here and I couldn’t be more excited! Not only is it finally getting warmer, but it’s finally strawberry season!

Strawberry season might just be my favorite season! My mom told me that when she was pregnant with me, all the craved was strawberries. Maybe that’s why I love them so much? Or maybe it’s simply because they are so tasty!

For the past few weeks, I’ve been eating strawberries just about every day. Here’s a simple recipe for a strawberry smoothie I like to make – it’s incredibly yummy and healthy too! I like to add the flax seeds because they are loaded with a ton of healthy properties such as omega-3, protein, and fiber!

    Recipe
    Gala apple
    Strawberries
    Greek yogurt (I like Fage)
    Golden flax seeds
    Water

Simply blend everything together and enjoy! I have an NutriBullet blender and I literally use it every day.

Bubble Lamp – Savings vs Splurge

    April 19, 2016
bubble lamp white dinning room scandinavian interior rgdaily blog
Spend 10 minutes scrolling through a “Scandinavian dinning room” search on Pinterest and I guarantee you the Bubble Lamp designed by George Nelson is bound to pop up somewhere.

I’ve had my eye on various versions of this pendant for a while now. It’s a fixture that is inarguably timeless and classic while still maintaining a modern edge. The fact of the matter is that there’s absolutely nothing to love about this design, and that’s precisely why it’s so lovable. You just cant go wrong with something so simple. It’s light and clean, elegant yet casual – total design perfection.

Nelson’s Bubble Lamp collection is understated design at its finest. In fact, until you learn a thing or two about the process by which these lamps are made, you’ve probably not given the cleverness of the design enough appreciation! The white exterior form of the globe is created when a self-webbing plastic material is sprayed onto the rotating wire form – a process developed for military use which Nelson applied in the design world.

Anyways, I’ll stop nerding out on design details and get to the point. I did not buy a real Nelson Bubble Lamp. Am I ashamed? A little. Do I regret my decision? Not even a little bit.

A few weeks ago I bought (and successfully installed all by myself) this gorgeous white pendant light for my dining room. I wish I could say that this lamp is an authentic Nelson Bubble Lamp. But sadly, it’s not. Unfortunately the Bubble Lamp that I wanted was a bit out of my price range, so I did a lot of research and convinced myself that it was ok to buy a look-alike. The light I purchased from Lights.com was much more affordable and looks great in my apartment!

    Savings ($120) – Splurge ($350)
