Masseria Dagilupi ~ A Dreamy Ostuni Escape

    October 2, 2020
Masseria Dagilupi Ostuni, Puglia Italy Travel, Architecture Design Hotel

Masseria Dagilupi is a dreamy Apulian escape where nature and architecture have been thoughtfully fused together by the warmest hospitality.

Once a former olive mill, Masseria Dagilupi is nestled into the countryside between Ostuni and the Adriatic Sea. Century old olive trees and clusters of cacti surround the stone building which has been completely reimagined by Danielle and Jean-Louis. The owners and hosts renovated the historic mill in 2018, creating a luxurious yet understated B&B where guests can experience a harmonious blend of Apulian architecture and nature, in a boutique hotel setting.

Sven and I had the great pleasure of checking into Masseria Dagilupi for a few nights during our recent visit to Puglia, and we loved every moment of our time there. As soon as we arrived, we were completely enveloped by the beautiful surrounding landscape and whitewashed walls of Dagilupi. Danielle and Jean-Louis made us feel right at home, considering every detail to ensure that our stay was luxurious, relaxing, and unlike anything else Ostuni has to offer.

    Accommodations & Architecture
Each of the three rooms at Masseria Dagilupi are distinctive and unique — with creative design solutions that play off the building’s original architecture. During our visit, we stayed in the bright and spacious Deluxe Limoni Room which features a king-sized bed, cozy sitting area, and beautifully designed bathroom with a built-in vanity that had me swooning. Just outside the room is an open courtyard with steps that take you to the most magical part of Masseria Dagilupi, the roof terrace. Breathtaking scenery unlike any other stretches-out in every direction, offering views of both the hilltop town of Ostuni and the Adriatic Sea.

    ~

    Vibes & Amenities
The atmosphere at Masseria Dagilupi is calming and serene. It’s a place where you can truly “leave it all behind” and let life’s distractions fade away as you’re lulled by the painted Apulian landscape, and considered design details. There are plenty of places to lounge and relax around the property, and we fully enjoyed the time we spend immersed outside. The masseria also offers outdoor massages and yoga experiences so that guests can feel fully absorbed by the tranquility that surrounds.

    ~

    Local Surroundings

While the blissful silence of the surrounding olive groves gives you the feeling you’re worlds away from anything but nature, Masseria Dagilupi is actually quite central. There’s lots to explore in the nearby town of Ostuni or other neighboring villages, and the seaside is just a few kilometers away. Coming by car is the most practical way to visit Dagilupi, and gives you all the flexibility needed to find yourself immersed in the region. Our hosts were very happy to provide us with a list of their favorite local restaurants and beaches, and these recommendations did not disappoint!

    ~

    Gourmet Breakfast
Breakfast at Masseria Dagilupi is fresh, healthy, and wonderfully original. Each morning, Danielle and Jean Louis go through great efforts to prepare a gourmet spread, based on Apulian fare that’s prepared with an imaginative twist. Fresh-pressed melon and ginger juice, homemade nutella and prickly pear jam, baked bananas seasoned with cardamom, and creamy stracciatella served with finely minced pear were just a few of the fabulous things we enjoyed during our stay. The assortment they serve varies day-to-day, and Masseria Dagilupi is also happy to augment the morning menu if you have a special dietary preference.

New Works ~ Interior Grounded By Nature

    September 28, 2020
New Works Showroom Copenhagen, Terra 3daysofdesign, Danish Interior Design

During 3daysofdesign, Danish interiors brand New Works presented an enveloping earthy showroom where nature was reflected in every corner, in both small and dramatic ways.

With the help of Lotta Agaton Interiors who oversaw the styling, New Works’ Copenhagen showroom was beautifully transformed into a space that echoed the grounding serenity of nature. Muted tones of gray, sage, and sand were complimented by the warming presence of large timber plinths and wild arrangements of greenery with a foraged feeling. But perhaps the most memorable bit of nature brought indoors was the massive olive tree that stood in the center of the first room, its wispy branches covered in dusty-green leaves.

I found the connectivity of styling between products and natural elements so incredibly thoughtful in each setting, with lots of subtle ties drawn between design and organic materials. In one setting, a canopy of Tense Pendant Lamps floated over mouth blown Blæhr Vases filled with stems of dried Lunaria — softly drawing parallels between the round paper-like leaves and the form of the pendants overhead.

To create a completed residence filled with both comfort and character, New Works collaborated with the Swedish bed brand Hästens, and artistic flair could be found throughout the showroom in the sculptural work of Ole Mynster Herold and Sofia Tufvasson.

Susanne Kaufmann ~ Balancing & Natural Skincare

    September 26, 2020
Susanne Kaufmann Natural Skincare, RG Daily

During our recent holiday in Italy, I packed a few of my favorite Susanne Kaufmann travel minis with me so that I could make a little DIY spa experience at our hotel.

I found that the Detox Oil Scrub was perfect for keeping my skin feeling soft and polished after long days spent in the sun. Following a good scrub-down in the shower, I liked to moisturize with the Muscle Release Oil and the combo had my skin and body feeling like new. I’ve used the Rose Water Mist for a while now, so it was a no-brainer to keep a mini with me by the pool or in my beach bag for quick refreshes throughout the day. As simple as it might be, this mist truly does pep-up your skin and keeps you feeling dewy and fresh. The Hyaluron Serum is a product that I tried for the first time while we were in Italy, and I feel like it gave my skin all the intensive moisture it was in desperate need of – especially after the time we spent in the dry Apulian air.

If you don’t already know Susanne Kaufmann, this cult beauty brand was born out of the products the founder had created to use at her own hotel spa in Austria. The guests who came to the hotel spa loved the products so much and frequently asked to buy them, so Susanne decided to officially launch her skincare brand. Active ingredients extracted from natural compounds and cold-pressed plant oils are the basis of the entire Susanne Kaufmann line, and each product is made using ingredients that are sourced locally from the Bregenzerwald Alpine region where they are produced.

    FRAMA ~ Reimagined Copenhagen Apothecary

    September 11, 2020
Frama Studio Apothecary Store Copenhagen Danish Interior Design

FRAMA’s Studio Store in central Copenhagen is unlike any showroom I’ve ever explored. Each time I visit, something new catches my attention. Housed inside St. Pauls Apothecary, the multi-disciplinary design brand has renovated the historic building in the most uncanny way imaginable, creating a captivating interior that’s raw, uncontrived, honest, and full of curiosity.

Instead of pursuing a typical renovation course, FRAMA decided to lean into the full history of the building, resurfacing each room layer-by-layer to uncover the nature in which the house evolved over the years prior. This textural and raw interior acts as the perfect backdrop for FRAMA’s diverse collection of products — a unique mix of furniture, lighting, interior accessories, and wellness goods which are grounded in natural materials, simple geometry, and the brand’s open approach to living.

Last week during 3daysofdesign, I had the chance to drop by St. Pauls Apothecary for a quick tour of the shop and studio overhead. A few new products were on display for the event, such as the Bauhaus-inspired Richardt Chair in steel and canvas, and Chair 01 in warm brown. The space is ever evolving, and recently FRAMA have transformed the former kitchen area into a small café. So if you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to drop by for a coffee and turn around the shop.

    Hotel SKT. Annæ ~ Copenhagen

    September 10, 2020
    Hotel Skt. Annea Copenhagen Denmark

Within the historic walls of Hotel SKT. Annæ, Danish tradition is met with all the comforts and refinement of a boutique Scandinavian design hotel.

I recently checked into Hotel SKT. Annæ for a few nights and absolutely loved everything about my time there. The hotel is quite literally located in the heart of Copenhagen, inside a beautiful building filled with character and rich in history. Overnight guests have been welcomed at this address since the 1850’s, but in those days it was known as Hotel Neptune. A few years ago however, the hotel was purchased by the Hildebrandt family who have transformed the historic building into the luxury boutique hotel that it is today.

During the renovations, the Hildebrandt’s sought to keep the atmosphere deeply rooted to its Copenhagen heritage. Much of the interior styling was inspired by the works of Vilhelm Hammershøi, a Danish painter from Copenhagen who was known for his soft interior compositions in muted shades of browns, grays, and faint blues. While this traditionalism is certainly reflected throughout Hotel SKT. Annæ, it’s been tastefully off-set by chic Danish design and pared-back styling. The result of this thoughtful combination is a unique hotel that’s classic, polished, and undeniably Scandinavian.

    Accommodations & Vibes
During my time at Hotel SKT. Annæ, I stayed in a spacious and comfortable Large Deluxe room. The cushy king-size bed was just what I needed after busy days in the city, and I appreciated the calming and elegant interior décor. The bathroom was also perfectly polished, fashioned with chic gold detailing and monochromatic tile.

When I wasn’t in my room, I spent most of my time on the hotel’s beautiful rooftop terrace. SKT. Annæ’s rooftop lounge might just be the best in the city. The charming garden oasis is actually looked after by Claus, the owner of Hotel SKT. Annæ, and you can tell that he takes a lot of pride in growing this cozy urban garden. The views over Copenhagen are absolutely breathtaking, and an iconic city landmark can be spotted from every direction.

    ~

    Neighborhood & Amenities

Although just steps away from the buzzing and colorful canal of Nyhavn, the streets of Sankt Annæ Plads that play host to Hotel SKT. Annæ are peaceful and subdued. A row of well-kept white facades overlook a small green park that’s nestled between the tree-lined streets. I for one much prefer this calmer and refined side of Copenhagen, especially since Sankt Annæ Plads still offers all the peaceful charm of a small neighborhood without giving up anything in terms of proximity. Just outside the hotel are countless options for site-seeing, dining and shopping. If you’re interested in exploring the city in the most traditional Danish way, by bicycle, you can hire a bike directly via Hotel SKT. Annæ.

There are two restaurants at the hotel, The Club and The Shrimp. I didn’t have a chance to dine at both during my stay, but I did stopped by for a glass of wine at the hotel bar, The Club. During breakfast hours, the hotel’s main restaurant is transformed into a well prepared Danish buffet with lots of freshly made dishes and organic options to choose from. And traveling coming to Copenhagen for longer stays can considering booking one of the hotel’s fully outfitted luxury apartments in the neighboring building.

FORESTA Collection, Rebecca Goddard Furniture Design, 3daysofdesign 2020, Nyt I Bo Copenhagen Denmark, Neutral Scandinavian Style, Earthy Aesthetic

Last week during 3daysofdesign, Copenhagen’s annual design festival, FORESTA and I came together to present the work from our collaboration while sharing the brand’s vision for a more sustainable and caring world ahead.

Over the past year, FORESTA and I have worked very closely to bring these designs to life. The brand is deeply committed to design that is first and foremost rooted in ethical production and manufacturing methods which are none-damaging to the environment. To support these values of sustainability, the designs in Collection One are deliberately simple so that the timeless beauty of natural wood remains in focus.

During 3daysofdesign, FORESTA presented five products from the collection I designed. Each of these pieces are made from FORESTA’s very own sustainably grown teak and ethically manufactured by a small artisan workshop in Honduras. So as you might imagine, I’m very excited to share a few highlights from FORESTA’s pop-up exhibition at Nyt i Bo.

Designs from Collection One featured during 3daysofdesign included the Arco Candle Holder, Aldea Tray, Forma Plinth Table, Copán Table/Stool, and Tallo Wall Wardrobe.

    Aime ~ Everyday Holistic Beauty

    September 7, 2020
    Aime Skincare Products

Aime is a French wellness brand that specializes specifically in products designed to support a holistic approach to beauty, skincare, and health.

By now, it’s no secret that glowing skin starts from within. That’s why Aime takes an inside-out approach to skincare and beauty, with a simple line of probiotic-based supplements and products formulated to support gut health and other internal imbalances that often times lead to lack-luster skin. Recently, Aime introduced a new category of supplements that are designed to nourish scalp and hair health as well.

I’ve been using a combination of Aime’s topical skincare products from their Simple Skin Routine set and I quite like the lightweight, non-aggressive formula. In particular, the Simple Serum is one of the first Vitamin C based brightening serums that hasn’t been too aggressive for my sensitive skin. But by far my favorite Aime product I’ve been using has been their Sleep & Glow Drops. A few drops of this melatonin-based supplement before bed has been making it much easier for me to relax and catch the quality Z’s I’ve been lacking.

All of Aime products are developed and produced in France, but can be ordered anywhere from their online shop. They also have a nice selection of other wellness lifestyle products such as dry skin brushes, herbal teas, and natural deodorants – all beautifully designed and packaged with the brand’s chic French retro flair.

Subtle Fall Updates & Details From New Works

    August 27, 2020
Minimalist Scandinavian Home, Fall Decor, Neutral Interior Design Aesthetic, White Living Room

Little hints of autumn are certainly in the air here in Berlin, which means it’s time for a few small décor changes to prep for the changing seasons.

As the summer days grow shorter and we slowly fade into autumn, lighting becomes such a key element in keeping the space warm and comfortable. I’ve been loving the soft, ambient glow of this Kizu Lamp from New Works. It gives off such a soothing light and makes the living room feel so cozy during the evening hours.

The perfectly balanced form presents less like a lamp, and more like a sculpture during the daytime, and pairs so nicely with my other favorite sculptural pieces like the Aalto Vase. I’ve also added a few dried arrangements to the space in deeper shades of greens and browns. Summer will be gone before we know it, so I better savor the last few weeks I guess. But I truly am looking forward to spending our first fall in this flat, especially after spending the full summer here without an air conditioner!

Airy Silver Jewellery By Cooee Design

    August 26, 2020
Cooee Design Silver Malak Earrings, Kristiina Haataja, Elegant Minimalist Jewelry, Timeless Style

While most Scandinavian design lovers know Cooee Design for their iconic Ball vases and ceramics, the brand’s foundation actually began with a collection of contemporary jewellery.

Catrine Åbergs first launched Cooee in 2005 with a focus in creative fashion accessories from plexi. Over the years, Catrine expanded the Cooee Design collection to include many decorative accessories for the home that have become known world-wide. But jewellery is still at the core of the brand, and Cooee has many beautiful styles to explore — both elegant and imaginative.

Cooee recently collaborated with Swedish sculptor, Kristiina Haataja, to create the light and playful Malak earrings shown here. I love the bright and airy look of these silver pieces, and I think that the necklaces are particularly timeless and delicate — the prefect finishing touch for any outfit. The metal tray is also a part of the Cooee collection, and it makes a great catch-all for accessories.

A Clever Little Side Table by Woud

    August 24, 2020
Woud Come Here Table, Ferm Living Ripple Glass, Minimalist Home, Neutral Aesthetic, Danish Design

Based out of Denmark, Woud is a contemporary interiors brand focused on fresh designs founded on originality, playfulness, and Scandinavian simplicity.

Not too long ago, a few pieces from Woud moved into our home, including the Come Here Side Table designed by Steffen Juul. I absolutely love the table’s deep smoked oak finish, and as the name suggests, it’s a perfect piece for quick re-arrangements. The simple yet clever design, with one angled leg piercing through the top surface to become a handle, is easy to maneuver about the home and looks great just about anywhere. For the moment, we have this little table in the living room near to the sofa. But it looks nice as a bedside table and contrasts the white linens so well, I might move it back to the bedroom soon.

Neutral Details & Photos From August

    August 22, 2020
Calm Scandinavian Interior Inspo Beige Aesthetic Neutral Style Berlin Apartment

Here are a few airy details from our home, and random shots that I’ve snapped throughout the summer. I’ve been quite into soft neutrals, with subtle hints of deep purples and greens.

In the moment, I’m a bit behind on my normal posting schedule because life has been so incredibly busy. I had hoped to share a few updates sooner, but I’ve been pretty consumed with the final details for Foresta’s upcoming launch in Copenhagen during 3daysofdesign. In less than ten days, I’ll be heading to Denmark to prep for the collection preview and work on the showroom styling! It’s all terribly exciting, for sure.

I’ve also been fine-tuning a few elements here on RG Daily. You might have noticed that the site has had a very subtle refresh, and I’ve finally got around to creating a new logo. I haven’t updated the blog branding since launching this site over four years ago, so I felt like it was time for a change. Hope you all like it.

The images here are just some that I’ve snapped over the last few weeks. I’ve spent most of July and August working from home office, so I’m really looking forward to a change of scenery in the coming weeks. After 3daysofdesign, Sven and I are going to take some much-needed time off. Our plan is to head to Italy to spend some time near the seaside in Puglia, but of course I’m holding that lightly just in case we have to change our travels because of you-know-what.

Hope you all enjoy a relaxing weekend!

    Xx, Rebecca

Gisou ~ Always With Me Mini Series

    August 17, 2020
Gisou Honey Infused Hair Mini Travel Series Oil Beauty Product Photography Aesthetic

Earlier this year, Gisou introduced their first Mini Series — perfectly sized for on-the-go needs and travel.

If you’re in the market for new haircare and have been curious about trying Gisou, this Mini Series is a great place to start. I’ve been using these products for the last few weeks and absolutely love all. My hairstylist recommended that I use a mask as a leave-in-conditioner because I tend to have puffy and dry hair. I’ve been using a tiny bit of the Gisou hair mask like this, and for the first time in my whole life my air-dried hair look good! And of course, the Honey Infused Hair Oil is an absolute game changer — they’ve also introduced this in a smaller size. This oil is so incredibly light and doesn’t create a gummy look or weigh your hair down at all. It just soothes the frizz and brings out glossiness with an amazing fragrance.
