This Christmas Tree post is my fourth and final entry to my “Scandinavian Christmas” series. As soon as I saw our tree in the lot, I knew he was the one. Sure, he might be a little bit sparse in the branch department, but he has character! I’ve always preferred real trees over artificial trees, and the more natural looking the tree, the better. Having a rugged Christmas tree is the perfect way to bring elements from the outdoors into your home – especially during a season when we tend to spend so much of our time cooped up indoors.
I decided to keep the tree décor pretty minimal and used a few white, silver, and coper colored ornaments and a strand of LED lights. I also made a simple tree stand using a vase and towel (details below). All of the other decorative objects are pieces from our travels or elements that I thought made the space feel more wintery and cozy!
* DIY Christmas Tree Stand *
This DIY Christmas Tree stand is the perfect solution for small trees! When I bought our tree home, I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to get it to stand up. After a little bit of toying around, I came up with a solution that works and looks great. All you need is a wide-mouthed vase or container and a hand towel. Simply fold the hand towel lengthwise a little bit smaller than the vase height, then wrap it around the base of the tree. Once the tree trunk is swaddled with the towel, slide it into the vase. Make sure it’s a tight fit! You might have to readjust the width of the folds in order to get the correct thickness. Once the tree is secure, carefully pour water into the vase until the towel is completely saturated. Re-fill the vase every few days to keep your tree hydrated throughout the holidays.
