Based out of Kyiv, Serenity is a Ukrainian clothing label with a focus on creating garments from beautiful pure silks. The silhouettes they make are exquisitely elegant and timeless — the types of pieces you wear from season to season, and the ones you reach for when you want to look and feel your absolute best.
In the editorial below, I’ve shown three different ways which I’ve styled my favorite dress from Serenity, their iconic Flattered midi gown in gorgeous stonewashed cream silk. Of course it’s the perfect effortlessly chic piece for a romantic summer evening out, but I’ve also found that it pairs wonderfully with layers — becoming all the more flexible and versatile. It has a classic cowl neck detail, and the thin straps can be crossed in both the back or front of the dress for two very different looks. Truly, this piece is a stunning multi-season slip dress with countless ways to wear, and the fit is so feminine and flattering. To get to know Serenity better and understand their vision, I spoke with the brand’s founder, Olga. I hope you enjoy our interview below…

An Interview with Olga of Serenity

Q: Tell me more about your personal motivation behind your label?
A: The brand’s mission is to make luxury affordable. We believe that a dress or separates made of pure silk is the best option for celebrating, parties, vacations and for everyday occasions, and that it’s possible to make a perfect high-quality piece not putting an extremely high price on it. We care about all the moments from the begin to the finished product, we follow high quality standards carefully, we use only high quality silk and fittings.
Q: Can you share a bit more about the silk fabrics you’re using?
A: Our assortment consists of dresses, tops, skirts, pants, blouses and other products made of high-quality silk. We use a mid-weight and a heavy-weight silk instead of a light-weigh one, because it looks more gorgeous and lives longer. We pay much attention to the quality of sewing, to every seam and stitch, because we believe that clothes must be perfect outside and inside to last. At the same time we have been maintaining the prices affordable for this quality.
Q: The pieces in Serenity’s collection are very timeless and elegant, but what sets them apart?
A: The Serenity showpiece is the silk slip dress, and it looks like a simple one but we spent almost a year to make a perfect pattern for it to provide the fit which flatters almost 100% of bodies. We have been working on new designs all the time, maintaining the modern and minimal approach them to be timeless and could be worn in many different ways. It’s important that we make all our silk garments with love for women and women’s bodies to provide a perfect fit and look. I personally test all styles before we put them into production.
The personal scale of your manufacturing gives Serenity Wear the unique availability to create made-to-order pieces specific to each customer. What type of options are your able to provide from you atelier?
A: Our slip dress is available in a few designs and more than 20 colors as for today which were constantly replenishing. All of our designs can be made in any colors that client sees in Serenity shop until we have that silk in stock or request a customization. Ladies get back to us for more Serenity pieces because they love the fit and quality of the tailoring. And we always interested and listen to the feedback because our clients are priority number one for us and there is no limit to perfection.
As a Ukrainian brand, I’m sure that Serenity has been deeply impacted by the war. How has your team been impacted in the wake of all that’s happening?
A: All garments are 100% designed and handmade in our studio in Kyiv. Regarding the work during war… It’s impossible to fit into few sentences what does it mean to us. Our lives have changed. We live without knowing what will happen tomorrow, but in this incredibly hard time we stand with our beloved motherland and our brave people. And we renewed our operations in Kyiv to support our economy and our families and also because we really love what we do. We keep supporting our armed forces and humanitarian projects. We not only send funds to the reliable foundations but also do some other little things, for example we provide silk waste for making protective nettings and some other things for our warriors. And we are so grateful for all support we receive, it’s almost impossible to describe how much all the messages from people from all over the world and their donations to our country mean to us now. We feel blessed and happy that our work helped us to get acquainted to so many kind souls.
